S. PHILOMEL. with BENIN RIVER 1894 clasp, dark patina, minor wear, extremely fine. Footnote: HMS Philomel played a supporting role during the British punitive expedition to the Benin River in 1894, part of broader military operations in the East and West Africa campaign. As a Royal Navy cruiser, Philomel assisted in enforcing British control over the region by
