A circular medal constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse bears two soldiers in Imperial uniforms loading a cannon, above is a plaque inscribed with 1848 98, below is a shield inscribed with the number 3, bordered with a simulated twisted rope, the reverse is marked GUSTAV DESCHLER ABZEICHEN FABRIK MNCHEN and bears a vertical pinback, has a blue and white fringe around the perimeter of the medal, measuring 49. 16 mm, missing
